The course can be completed in one hour and consists of three modules.

We don’t expect financial professionals to act as counselors or help a client treat an addiction or mental health issue. However, by recognizing the signs of an addiction and having open conversations, you can help clients manage the financial aspects of addiction and direct them to trained mental health and addiction professionals who can provide counseling and treatment.

While you may think none of your clients are affected, the reality is that many people are too afraid or embarrassed to ask you for help, even if they have exhausted all other resources. In fact, an Investment News survey found that 36% of financial advisers have had clients or clients’ family members who were addicted to opioids. You won’t truly know until you ask, and this course will help you get the conversation started.

And even if none of your clients are living with addiction or mental illness, chances are they have a family member who is. 1 in 4 Americans live with a mental illness or substance use disorder and as such, your client may be put into a position where they have to financially support a family member or close friend. This course will give you the tools you need to advise these clients and help them preserve their financial future.
